“Within each human being exists a longing
to live a life that matters, that makes a difference, that leaves a legacy”
- Toni Sorenson

I have a strong belief that everybody has lived an extraordinary life - a life that should be acknowledged and celebrated. My passion is helping older people reflect on and capture the stories and values of their life. These stories matter and they connect us across generations.
I grew up in the Browncroft neighborhood of Rochester, one of six kids. After graduating from Nazareth Academy, I went to John Carroll University in Cleveland for my B.S. in Psychology, with a concentration in gerontology. I got my Masters degree in Social Work from the University at Buffalo - I graduated from that program in 1996 when I was six months pregnant with my first child!
In Buffalo, I worked as a social worker at a skilled nursing facility and spent three years working at Catholic Charities. I moved to Rochester in 2001 in order to be closer to my family. I was a stay-at-home mom for about 10 years, then slowly began to get back into the professional world.
I spent the last 7 years working for a companion care company, Touching Hearts at Home - first as a caregiver, then doing intakes for prospective clients and conducting orientations for new caregivers. For the last four years, I held the position of Client Care Liaison. Through that role, I had the opportunity to visit hundreds of older clients in their homes.
I have also done many individual projects over the last 10 years, interviewing people about their life stories. In 2010, I completed a large project for the Sisters of St. Joseph archives that included individually videotaping 15 sisters talking about their life ministries.
I created Lifetime Connections because I wanted to focus my time and energy towards something that I am passionate about. I believe we all have something to gain by listening to life stories and wisdom of our elders.
My favorite project of all has been raising my three beautiful daughters! Sarah, Grace and Ellie are currently ages 22, 18 and 16. Without a doubt, they are the proudest accomplishment in my life.
I live in Brighton with my daughters and my husband of 23 years, Tim. I love taking walks with our sweet black lab named Kodi, riding my bike on the canal path, reading, kayaking and spending time with my family and friends.
